Born and raised as part of an Imperial assassin sect, Yuzhu met the man who changed his life on a moonlit night high above the bamboo forest floor.

History
- Born against sect regulations; parents tried to run but were caught and killed. He was taken back to the sect and raised as an assassin dubbed Qin Erqi (27)
- Met Mu Canglan as a teen on his first solo mission; Canglan showed him a way to avoid killing innocents and touched his heart; they fell in love though they could not meet often
- Chose to stay after Xie Ruyu upended Yisha hierarchy and took control of the sect, to serve him and the sect's new mission
- Now in charge of intelligence gathering
- Asked Canglan to give him a new name and was dubbed Yuzhu
- Assisted with Canglan's revenge in any way he could
- Respected Canglan's need for space after the death of his shifu but couldn't let go
- Has since ghosted along in and around Canglan's life, silently removing obstacles and doing what he can to smooth the way
